Chicken Tortilla Casserole

6 chicken breasts

1 medium onion, chopped

1 lb cheddar cheese, grated

1 can cream mushroom soup

1 dozen corn tortillas

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 can chopped chilies

1/2 c milk

salt and pepper

Bake salted chicken, cut in large thick pieces. Cut tortillas in one inch strips. Mix soups with milk, add onions. Butter large casserole. Layer ingredients: tortillas, chicken, chilies, soup mixture. Repeat making sure not to have chicken on bottom or top. Top with grated cheese. Best to let stand several hours for flavors to blend. Bake at 300 for 1 hour.
