Scones

3/4 c butter, cut into chunks 1/4 c sugar 1 egg 1/2 c + 2 tlbs buttermilk 1 tsp baking powder 2 c flour 1/4 tsp soda |
Preheat oven to 425°, line baking sheet with parchment. In food processor add flour, sugar, powder and soda, blend briefly. Add butter and pulse to make a coarse grainy mixture. Put mixture in a bowl, make a well in center. Add egg and most of buttermilk. Stir lightly with fork to blend. Add remaining buttermilk if needed to make a soft dough. Turn mixture onto a floured surface and knead 8 -10 times. Pat out to 1 inch thickness, cut into 3 inch wedges. Place on baking sheet. Brush tops with milk. Bake 12-15 minutes. |
